Recently brought Hp Omen 27i monitor. This is my first gaming monitor and had searched a lot before buying this one but after using, the highest refresh rates which I can get are only up to 144hz. I'm using a Dell XPS 13 9350 laptop which is powered by intel 520 graphics card and I have connected omen 27i monitor as a secondary monitor.
As of now, I don't have huge computer setup for getting the full performance for this monitor but I'm building one by one and buying a monitor was the first thing in my agenda so that I can use it as an extra display which will help me a lot for my WFH.
Is this the reason why I don't see a higher refresh rate of 165 Hz? I'm using a USB c to display port cable(2k@165Hz, 2k@144Hz). Is it possible to get a 165 Hz refresh rate for my current setup? From my search, it says we need to overclock to get high refresh rates but those are not from any trusted sources. Is this true? If so, any idea on the scan range for horizontal and vertical for this monitor with overclock on/off? Also, my graphics card software is up to date.
