Hi all.
There seems to be an issue with the WiFi card (Intel WiFi 6 AX201) on the latest HP Omen 15 laptops.
The issue causes WiFi connection to drop without warning for up to 10 seconds before it (sometimes) reconnects automatically. This is a major issue for a gaming laptop as most games require a constant internet connection to be played.
The issue is persistant on connections over VPNs, as well as direct connection.
Currently I have been able to confirm the issue, or similar WiFi issues affect the following models of Omen:
- HP Omen 15 (2020) - ek0502na (Intel, RTX2070)
- HP Omen 15 (2020) - ek0021tx (Intel, RTX2060)
I have been able to confirm the issue is not present on the following models of Omen:
- HP Omen 15 (2020) - en0600ng (Ryzen, RTX2060)
From the above confirmations, it seems like the issue is only affecting Omen models with the Intel AX201 WiFi 6 NIC.
If you are also experiencing this issue, post your model number below to increase the sample size we have so that we can be sure it is a problem with AX201 NICs only.
Hopefully this is not a hardware defect and we can fix it with a software update.
