There is some sort of software based prevention of allowing 3rd party chargers to charge HP laptops. How can I disable this anti-competitive and harmful feature? I have multiple chargers, all of which work if they are HP branded and all of which don't work if they are not. This 2021 Omen 17 doesn't draw over 200W when performing routine office tasks and I don't want to bring the charger that's as large as a mac-mini if its unnecessary. Watching the draw from the wall, the HP charger itself rarely is pulling over 200W anyways. I have tried 100W, 140W, and 240W chargers all of which the HP disconnects after a few seconds. I just need a method to disable this ridiculous feature, a high quality charger is not going to damage any battery and all of the specifications of these chargers is inline with what the omen charger has printed on the back of it (with the exception the current is obviously lower)
All of these chargers will happily charge the laptop when the machine is powered off. Yes all of them have the correct connector. Yes I disabled the only battery option in the bios. Yes I have uninstalled and re-installed both items under 'Batteries' in device manager. Yes the bios is fully updated.
