HP Pavilion Laptop PC 14-dv1000 (464V1AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

I have just purchased a Pavilion laptop (14-dv1000), running Windows 11 (21H2), with an ELAN driver for the touchpad.  (Device manager only says that it's an "ELAN input device.")

I have had two previous Pavilion laptops, and both have had Synaptics drivers with the "momentum" option, which allows the cursor to move across the screen with just a slight finger flick.  This option is not available on the new laptop.

As near as I can tell from my own searching, ELAN does have a touchpad driver with the equivalent of "momentum," but that option is not included in my current driver.

1.  Is there an HP-supported driver that I can download that includes the "momentum" function?  If there is, I can't find it.  I can download the Synaptics driver from Lenovo, but I worry --- should I? --- about compatibility.  I'd prefer to use the ELAN driver that has the "momentum" equivalent, but I cannot find their driver anywhere on their, or anyone else's, website.

2.  Is there a registry edit that will enable the "momentum" function on my existing driver?  I have seen a couple of suggested fixes that look like they require some fairly extensive (to me) registry changes.  I'm not adverse to editing the registry, but in the past I have had to do little more than create a single new entry or toggle something on/off.

Thanks in advance for any guidance.
