Without any warning the battery on my Omen 17 started throwing errors (in the HP Support Battery diagnostic, eventually saying I needed to replace it) and wouldn't charge. I was unable to get through to HP in any way, shape or form and their parts website is sluggish and useless. I went to Microcenter and picked up a third party battery that fits but the problem continues. I've tried removing the battery after uninstalling the battery device driver, but all that happens every time, no matter what, is that it shows that it's plugged in (but it doesn't say that it's plugged in _and charging_ like other devices do) and the power on the new battery is running down. I've already wasted way too much time on this and wonder if there's a simple answer that I'm missing or if it's going to need to be serviced. Does anyone have any experience with this issue? Thank you.
EDIT: I've tried replacing the battery with a third party one and on top of it complaining that it's a 'counterfeit battery' it does the same thing, it just drained the battery down and never charged. So I've put the old one back in and it's sitting at 0 percent. The fact that I can't get any support on this laptop which is barely two years old is pretty infuriating.
