Product: HP ZBook Power 15.6 inch G8 Mobile Workstation PC IDS Base Model
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)
Hello
The fan runs intermittently even when the system is idle (1% CPU).
It is very distracting if the fan pauses for a short time (some seconds) only and runs with quite a high speed - with no obvious reason - for some other seconds!
It's a brand new laptop. Drivers are up to date.
The CPU temperature where the fan starts seems to be around 43°C, as can be seen in Windows Management Instrumentation Command-line:
C:\windows\system32>wmic /NAMESPACE:\\root\HP\InstrumentedBIOS path HPBIOS_BIOSNumericSensor get Name, CurrentReading
CurrentReading Name
2119 CPU Fan
2048 GPU Fan
43 CPU Temperature
25 Discrete Graphics Temperature
42 Remote Temperature
40 Local Temperature
30 Battery Temperature
Why is the GPU fan running as well despite the very low GPU temperature?
Is there any possibility to let the system manage the fans less noisy?
It would be more comfortable to have a much lower but more constant fan speed!
Regards
