HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer

My HP Officejet Pro printer alerted me to replace one of the colour cartridges yesterday. I replaced it with a non-HP cartridge - from a manufacturer I have used with this machine many times before with a remanufactured ink cartridge - and now the printer WILL NOT WORK. The error message tells me I must use a HP cartridge only. 

 

This only occurred after the recent firmware update in December 2022 - the first time one of the cartridges needed to be replaced.

 

I need to know what solution can be given to allow me to use non-HP cartridges. I believe it is anti-competitive to force owners of HP printers to only use their branded cartridges. Is that true?
