HP Recommended

Hello,

I'm the IT support manager for our company. We have a mix of HP laptops and most of them update fine via Windows Update, even the firmware updates that HP now rolls out via Windows Update.

However we also have 30 ZBook Firefly 14 G7 laptops. Specifically on these devices the HP Firmware updates aren't installed automatically. Users see a message popping up on the taskbar saying they need to reboot in order to apply the HP Firmware update, for instance the HP S73 System Firmware, but when they restart, they see a text 'A system update is being installed' (roughly translated from Dutch) for about two seconds after the restart, after which the laptop boots into Windows, but the Firmware update isn't installed.

After a couple of days or so, another message asking the user to restart to apply the same S73 Firmware update appears, but again the restart doesn't apply the update.

We have installed the HP Client Management Script Library, which allow us to disable the BIOS function 'Prompt for Admin authentication on Capsule Module'. This prevents the BIOS password prompt on applying an update. Still, to no avail, the update isn't applied. In Device manager the System Firmware has a yellow warning indicating the update isn't installed.

Has anyone come against this issue and does anybody know how to resolve this? Thank you in advance.

Best regards,

Mark
