Product: HP Officejet Pro X576dw Multifunction Printer
My eleven years, 60,000 pages old HP OfficeJet Plus MFC X576dw is now displaying a very terminal looking error message:
Printer failure
There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists, call HP.
Naturally I have switched it on and off several times, but the problem persists.
Immediately before this message, it was displaying a strange error message about a jam in the ink compartment. However, it is impossible for there to be a jam in the ink compartment, as the paper goes nowhere near it. I checked for jams in the all the usual ways, removed all the ink cartidges from the ink compartment and restored them.
That error message then disappeared to be replaced by the one above referring to a system failure.
Advice gratefully received, or recommendation of a friendly and inexpensive engineer in West London or environs.
