Operating System: Microsoft Windows 11

On starting up I get a black screen with a 601 error message telling me that battery is very low and I should plug in immediately.  I am nearly always plugged in when at home and only occasionally use battery power when out.  However, I am on and off the laptop several times a day and don't bother to turn off in between, only at night when I close down.  The message tells me I may need a new battery, can this be true?
