That is a faulting install package.

In this case you need create a bootable USB that has the BIOS update, because just running the bios update application will not work. Go back to the BIOS download and select the option that creates a bootable USB.  Let me know if that works.

What bios version do you currently have?

Did the latest HP support assistant advise you to update the bios?

I do not know what the W70 means but it seems to be associated with the linux operating system bios upgrade

Note that the revision history lists two BIOS releases on the same day Dec 3, 2024

Bios 104.01  mentions the W70 being used by linux to program certain features.

I suspect that bios is good for your laptop when running linux.

Windows does the same thing but uses the BCM application to program features into a new or replacement motherboard.

I looked at the 1.05 update and it seem to actually fix a number of things, not just slow down the laptop by adding security features.  You need to wait for a release (if any) for your particular 840 g11.  There are several versions of 840 g11

Hope this was useful.

Look in the event viewer for any error messages.  Sometimes an app will not run because a certificate expired.  This happened recently on a bios update on an Omen.

Let me know if you seen an error like shown in the above link

You might ask an HP Agent as to why it cannot be installed if the event viewer shows no problems.

How to contact an HP agent:
Sign in to your support page
Select the product you need help with and scroll down to support options.
Select "Contact us". You can change country and language if necessary

Many thanks this fixed this situation. 🙂

Many thanks

Can You write my only why this happaned?

HP Recommended

I do not know why the error occurred.  Please check to see if the windows files system got corrupted

SFC and DISM are both tools that scan and repair corrupted system files. However, SFC uses a cached version of the files, while DISM uses the internet to download and fix the files.

Try the SFC first and if it gives a message that it cannot fix the problem then try the DISM tool.

---some advice ---

HP is removing cloud recovery for system over 5 years old.
The actual wording is a limited time after the warranty expires
You may want to get a copy of the cloud recovery before it is too late.
Cloud recovery provides all the custom HP drivers.
Go to the below site and enter your product ID including the 3 characters after the # character
If you have cloud recovery you can restore your system using a 32gb flash.
It may take an hour or more to create the recovery USB.
