Less than 2 years ago, I purchased a C309a all-in-one photosmart printer. I ran out of 564 Black ink cartridge. I then did the following:

 

1. Looked at printer manual. It indicated I could use either 564 black ink cartridge or a 564xl cartridge. Well my husband bought the 564xl cartridge 3 pack. When I tried to replace empty cartridge with 564xl cartridge, does not fit. Too big. Ok, our error in not actually looking at cartridges before buying. So we now have 3 unusable cartridges.

 

2. Bought single black 564 cartridge at Office Max. HP packaging was marked Black 564. Get home and open  packing, find cartridge marked 564 but in reality.....Size of cartridge does not fit. Compared size of marked 564 cartridge with 564xl cartridge and low and behold........Cartridge marked 564 is actually the size of a 564xl cartridge. I now have 4 unusable cartridges.

 

3. I order HP 564 Black ink cartridge directly from HP online.

 

4. You guessed it, I get another HP packaged ink cartridge marked 564 Black, cartridge is marked 564 black.......... but is actually a 564xl cartridge. I now have 5 unusable ink cartridges.

 

5. I call HP tech support. I spent close to an hour on phone with 2 very pleasant folks who said they understood the problem. That it was an HP error. Apologized and very nicely ordered an entire 5 cartridge refill including colors. Sounded as though HP was handling inconvenience. I just want the right ink cartridge.

 

6. Get the promised delivery package from Fed Ex, today. Oh heavens, I thought, I can now use my printer...............WRONG.......HP has sent me yet another single 564xl cartridge.At least all packaging and cartridge were labeled appropriately as 564xl. I now have 6 unusable cartridges. At least I did not have to pay for this one.

 

7. There is obviously a major quality control issue behind this problem.

 

8. All I want is correct ink cartridge. I can not use printer without it. I hate to think that I have to buy a new printer just because I can not get correct ink cartridge.

 

9. Unfortunately, I discarded original empty 564 cartridge. Otherwise, I would just take it in for a refill rather than bothering with HP at all.

 

10. I swear to you that I am not even embellishing this saga. I could not even make this stuff up! 

 

Has anyone ever had this much difficulty with HP? I am open to suggestions as I just want the ink. Nothing else wrong with Printer.....I liked the printer.....But can not get correct ink. Printer is unasable.

 

I hope someone from HP reads this and responds.......please? My registration information for this site contains email address.
