Hi,

in our new HPE Z4 G5 Workstations are some fans missing. We were told they are not needed (probably they won't even fit, as we have a large NVIDIA GPU (4080 Super) in it. However I get a POST error message during boot:

POST Error
519 - Aux fan not detected
519 - Aux fan not detected
513 - Configuration requires a Front Chassis fan and this fan is not detected
Press ENTER to continue

This is problematic as the Workstations are used via ssh and usually don't have a screen or keyboard attached. When installing updates and rebooting this would always hang.

Is it possible to switch off this check in the bios ? I could not find an option, only this page:
https://www.barco.com/en/support/knowledge-base/10188-my-post-error-519-aux-fan-not-detected
which mentions a new bios, but the option is not available on our machine. I will check the bios version tomorrow.

Thanks for any help, we need this to boot remotely.

I checked the bios again (I have U61 Ver. 01.02.09 09/18/2024) and found how to switch this off, in case someone else has the same problem):

Press F10 during boot to go into Bios setup

Advanced -> System Setup -> Disable Fan Post Error

Then the machine stops checking. Could be problematic if one of the other fans breaks and you will never know until the CPU is gone.
