Hi, my question has to do with what is the best ram to fill my ram slots with. I run windows 7 Ultimate 64bit and i'm only aware that I can fit 8Gb total. I'm into recording music with alot of peripherals. I have things like a 003 console, an 11Rack, a Boss GT-10, along with a Yamaha G-1 Piano. All are via usb except the 003 (Firewire connection).
I have a sandra report to reflect my power supply and graphics card upgrades.

Both Hynix and Micron produce good RAM modules. I would suggest you go for 4X2GB DDR2-800 memory modules. Here are the specs of the memory supported by the motherboard:
Dual channel memory architecture
Four 240-pin DDR2 DIMM sockets
Supported DIMM types:
DDR2-800
DDR2-667
Non-ECC memory only, unbuffered
Supports 2 GB DDR2 DIMMs
Supports 8 GB on 64 bit PCs
Supports 4 GB* on 32 bit PCs
NOTE: *Actual available memory may be less

I would rather do as you say as you are an employee and all I just have one other question. With regarding a DUC forum site for my Digidesign hardware. I asked a similar question and he recommended DDR2 PC2-8500. I'm just wondering what the difference is and essentially will it work... better but it's not recommended or did he typo in his reply. 😄

DDR2 PC2-8500 is nothing but DDR2-1066. This is higher & faster than the one I mentioned as DDR2-800. Your motherboard supports upto DDR-800. So, even if you install DDR2-1066 and if it works, it will only run at DDR2-800 speed only. I am not sure if it works.

I also have an m9040n running Windows Vista. I would like to upgrade my memory to 6 or 8 GB.
I understand I will have to upgrade to Windows 7 or 8 in 64 bit version to accomplish this.
Is it possible to utilize the two existing 1 GB memory sticks currently in the computer and replace the two 512k sticks with two 2 GB sticks for a total of 6 GB memory?
Please let me know if this is possible and if there are any other issues.
Thank you.

Hello OneTraderEP,
If you want to upgrade you memory over the 3GB that is already installed in the computer, you’re correct, you will have to upgrade to a 64 bit operating system.
That’ll work if you remove the two 512 sticks and replace them with two 2GB sticks. (6GB total)
Here is a link for product specs.
Let me know if this helps.

I'm trying to upgrade my memory to 4GB, I purchased 2 - Patriot Signature Series DDR2 2GB CL6 800MHz (PC2-6400) Non-EEC, Unbuffered, 240pin, 1.8v
When I installed, after turning the system on it only beeps, no screen on monitor. I installed in the blue matching memory banks, closeiest to the CPU. If I remember correctly thats the banks to use. I tried clearing CMOS by removing the battery and using the dip pin to clear. Still the same thing. Any suggestions.
Operating System : Windows 10
Thanks,
Paul
