HP Envy 750-247c
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am having a ton of trouble with this machine...I love the hybrid drive for its super fast startup, but no matter what I do, everything gets stored on the SSD (C: ), with no way to alter where things go.  I have changed the settings in storage to tell it to store all apps, docs, and media to the 😧 drive (the HD).  I am running Quickbooks 2015 and ALL of my data, documents, program files, ect...are on the C: drive, so I keep getting messages that I've run out of memory.  I can't even back up my QB files to uninstall them and try to reinstall (which I have done 3 times now).

I have already deleted everything I can (except all the s*&t that HP puts on here that I don't want or need).

Doea anyone know if thereis a way aroung this, or is the hybrid drive a gimmick?

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

I read your post about storage problems on your desktop and wanted to help.

Since this is a relatively new machine, instead of struggling for hours to fix it yourself, why not just let HP fix it -- for free!!

You should contact HP Customer Support directly to have them put you in touch with HP Technical Support to see what they can do about diagnosing and repairing your machine remotely.

I did this recently and the HP Tech was able to remotely access my PC from the Internet and do the needed repairs.

If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1

If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

NOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!

Good Luck

Hi

Would not the MOVE command work?

move c:\qb\qbdata\apr2016\*.* d:\qb\qbdata\apr2016\ ?

Between Hp, Intuit, and Costco concierge service, I have spent close to 7 hours on the phone with tech support 😞 With NO resolution. Now I'm being told by hp there's nothing they can do, I need to call windows support

I don't know how to do that, so I've never tried. I have tried the right click, move, but move is never an option 😞

Hi

Well there are few things to try, so it may be best to make some dummy files and folders for practice.

So Open a Command Prompt (Dos Box) and type  (MAKE A NEW DIRECTORY IN C:\ CALLED DUMMY & then D:\)

md c:\dummy

md d:\dummy

Inside those we can make folders called almost anything, but year and month may be suitable.

C:\>md c:\dummy\2016

C:\>md d:\dummy\2016

C:\>md d:\dummy\2016\jan

C:\>md c:\dummy\2016\jan

Now we put some dummy files into c:\dummy\2016\jan

C:\>dir c:\dummy\2016\jan
Volume in drive C is Windows
 Volume Serial Number is 32E7-9C11

 Directory of c:\dummy\2016\jan

08/04/2016  15:03    <DIR>          .
08/04/2016  15:03    <DIR>          ..
10/03/2016  12:14           115,873 A.png
12/03/2016  18:33            37,376 B.doc
10/03/2016  12:00            45,056 C.doc
29/02/2016  00:21           143,820 D.png
26/03/2016  10:05            16,354 E.png
04/04/2016  08:44            56,962 F.png
10/03/2016  18:10            12,354 G.png
10/03/2016  17:37            46,863 H.png
27/03/2016  11:34            33,176 I.png
13/03/2016  21:32             2,578 J.png
31/03/2016  20:00            77,045 K.png
06/04/2016  18:52            42,855 L.png
08/04/2016  13:31           204,676 M.png
28/03/2016  15:44               402 N.txt
              14 File(s)        835,390 bytes
               2 Dir(s)  286,736,728,064 bytes free

Much the same as your QB will be populating directories.

NB:  cd is change directory, cd.. is go up a directory level.

NEXT we empty the C: area into the 😧 area.  D:\DUMMY\2016\JAN\ is empty

Directory of d:\dummy\2016\jan

08/04/2016  15:00    <DIR>          .
08/04/2016  15:00    <DIR>          ..
               0 File(s)              0 bytes
               2 Dir(s)   1,622,990,848 bytes free

THE MOVE command FROM  TO

C:\>move c:\dummy\2016\jan\*.* d:\dummy\2016\jan\
c:\dummy\2016\jan\A.png
c:\dummy\2016\jan\B.doc
c:\dummy\2016\jan\C.doc
c:\dummy\2016\jan\D.png
c:\dummy\2016\jan\E.png
c:\dummy\2016\jan\F.png
c:\dummy\2016\jan\G.png
c:\dummy\2016\jan\H.png
c:\dummy\2016\jan\I.png
c:\dummy\2016\jan\J.png
c:\dummy\2016\jan\K.png
c:\dummy\2016\jan\L.png
c:\dummy\2016\jan\M.png
c:\dummy\2016\jan\N.txt
       14 file(s) moved.

C:\>dir c:\dummy\2016\jan\
Volume in drive C is Windows
 Volume Serial Number is 32E7-9C11

 Directory of c:\dummy\2016\jan

08/04/2016  15:10    <DIR>          .
08/04/2016  15:10    <DIR>          ..
               0 File(s)              0 bytes
               2 Dir(s)  286,737,313,792 bytes free

AND  the job is done.

So all of this is new and possibly quite daunting, so by all means Private Message me for more help in a step by step way.
