HP Pro 3500 Series
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello All,

I am attemting to upgrade the CPU on my HP Pro 3500 Series Desktop PC from an Intel Pentium G2030 to an i7 2600 K.

The motherboard is a Foxconn 2ABF (Is that the same as a Cupertino..?) and all the specifications state that this is possible:

http://www.findlaptopdriver.com/specs-foxconn-2abf-motherboard-7252011h48/

https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c02978278

However, when I replaced the CPU I have an eror message that says 'CPU not supported, the computer will shut down in 30 seconds' or something very similar. It's not on the screen for very long so apologies for not giving you the exact message.

Is there something that I'm missing? Are there any 'jumpers' on the motherboard that may need swapping over?

I'm not sure what extra information you need from me but I have the PC here and running (with existing CPU) and can supply any further information fairly quickly.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

EDIT: I have just noticed that it is a 2600 K and on similar posts to mine I have just read that K models may not be supported...

If this is so then eBay it is for the K model whilst I go for a non K model... sigh!

Many thanks

From my understanding, only a small number of HP machines support K processors/CPU's and the HP Pro 3500 series only supports a list of CPU's on the following link

Many thanks for replying. Entirely my fault. I hadn't read the previous posts regarding the 'K' series processors and HP motherboards until after I had pressed the 'post' button for my own post.

However, I shall eBay the processor I have and buy another one without the K suffix.

Many best regards,
