HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01-2000a (2Z6E2AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

 Some time ago I bought a HP TG01-2030 Pavilion Ryzen 5 5600G 3.9GHz 8GB 512GB AMD RX5500 W10H. I didn't do any upgrades because it was under warranty. Now that it is not covered, I would like to upgrade items needed so I can run high end games. This is my first computer I have ever upgraded, can hardly wait really! My computer crashes when I attempt the training portion of Arma Reforger and that's nowhere near the type of game graphics I am hoping to play. The first thing I know I need is RAM. Can I buy any matching 2 sticks that equal 32 GB RAM, install it and be good? I have a Samsung 250 SSD, do I just pull up a YouTube install video and put it in? I've been going down the rabbit hole and I remembered to come here and ask the right community for the issue. Is there a list of the best components that are possible for this particular system. What GPU do I need to buy to get the high 100 frames per min? I would really like to run games like Gray Zone Warfare on this com. and would like to know all options. Any advice will be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thank you ahead of time for all your help!

@Benny1375,

Welcome to our HP community forum!

Your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop PC TG01-2000a (2Z6E2AV), is fitted with a 400-watt power supply, with p/n: L69242-800 (L76557-001) -please verify.

[EDIT: Amazon links updated] If you don't want to upgrade your power supply, I would suggest a smaller-sized (two fan) RTX 4060 8GB OC model, such as this option: https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/asus-dual-rtx-4060-oc.b11146, with this Amazon purchase example: https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-DisplayPort-2-5-Slot-Axial-tech-Technology/dp/B0C7YPGFFW/ref=sr_1_4?dib=..., or another competitively priced RTX 4060: Amazon.com: MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 4060 8GB GDRR6 128-Bit HDMI/DP Nvlink TORX Fan 4.0 Ada Lovelace A....

You'll be pleasantly surprised to experience a huge graphics performance difference compared with your current GPU: https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-4060-vs-AMD-RX-5500/4150vs4059.

Your desktop can be fitted with up to 2 x 32GB of DDR4 PC4-25600, 3200 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, DIMM (UDIMM), 288-pin RAM sticks, but you likely won't need that much RAM. And yes, I would also strongly recommend matching RAM sticks for best RAM performance.

Here is a quality/affordable 2x16GB dual rank (2Rx8) RAM kit purchase option: https://www.amazon.com/Timetec-3200MHz-PC4-25600-Unbuffered-Computer/dp/B07QRVNB26/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3....

Your desktop is fitted with the Erica6 motherboard (SSID: 8906), and you could consider upgrading your processor to a Ryzen 7 5700G (8-Cores, 16-Threads, 3.80 GHz up to 4.60 GHz), such as this top rated Trusted eBay purchase option: https://www.ebay.com/itm/235541949786?itmmeta=01HX7BRDM6V69JJM269JZ4AFC2&hash=item36d764ed5a%3Ag%3Av....

And yes, just pull up a YouTube install video for your SSD.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

Hello @NonSequitur777

Thank you for the reply!

I don’t mind getting all of the things need to get this computer as good as it can get. I will get a bigger power supply if needed to get a better build. What power supply do you recommend? After getting that power supply, what new options does that open up to me? Would this RAM work in my upgrade? A-Tech Velocity RAM 64GB (2x32GB) DDR4 3200MHz (PC4-25600) XMP 2.0 UDIMM 1.2V Non-ECC DIMM 288-Pin Desktop Computer Gaming Memory - AV2K32G4D32X. I am buying and upgrading one thing at a time and RAM is the first thing on my list. I will definitely take your advice and get the Ryzen 7 5700G (8-Cores, 16-Threads, 3.80 GHz up to 4.60 GHz). Is that the best I can get with the Erica6 motherboard that I have? If not, what is?

@Benny1375,

You are welcome!

Btw, I updated the Amazon RTX 4060 purchase options: the MSI model can now be purchased for less than $300.

Yes, a Ryzen 7 5700G is the best processor compatible with your motherboard.  Somehow HP figured out how to narrow it down:

I would strongly recommend avoiding any RAM that references "XMP 2.0" or "XMP Profile", because you may end up with RAM that gets stuck at its default ("SPD") RAM speed, and if that happens, there's nothing you can do to change that.

You could, of course, purchase that RAM and see if it will run at 3200 MHz.  If not, return to Seller to get your money back.

Kind Regards,
