Just recently bought the HP 2311x monitor and it has been working fine, until tonight. Due to idle time, the monitor goes to sleep; usually, it does not take long for it to awaken, until tonight. The monitor indicates "no signal." Checked all the cable connections and all are securely intact; went ahead and unplugged and re-plugged the cables, but the monitor still says 'no signal." Lastly, the only way to awaken the monitor is to unplug it from the power source; but it immediately displays the "no signal" message and goes to sleep. Any help you could provide is highly appreciated. Thank you very much!

It can be the pc, the pc's graphic, a cable, the monitor.
Can you test the monitor with another pc?
A friend's pc, a neighbour's pc?

Thank you for a prompt response. I followed the steps as directed and repeated said steps several times to no avail. The monitor continues to display the following messages afterwards:
DVI: No Signal
HDMI: No signal
VGA: No Signal
Auto Switch: ON
Default Source: DVI
I apologize for lack of computer savvy. Any other suggestion is greatly appreciated!

Thank you so much!
Took the monitor back to Best Buy and it tested okay; so took the tower in and was told that the diagnostics revealed a probable defective mother board or a video card. Both components were just purchased on December 2011; luckily we have made it a habit to save almost everything in an external drive.
Again, thank you for your help and patience!

Problem: HP2311x screen goes blank while connected to laptop via USB 3.0 port and “No Source Signal or No Input Signal” notification on screen.
I'm working through my set-up so I can do online training. These steps worked for me.
Solution Step 1: Open the computer's HP Power Assistant / Advanced / USB Selective Suspend – Set both battery and plugged-in options to “disabled.” This should eliminate the sudden shut-down of the monitor.
Solution Step 2: HP2311c menu button / Factory Reset – Select Yes. This should cause the monitor to respond like a typical peripheral monitor when logging on or off of the laptop shutting down the monitor to standby, etc. There are, however, some quirks depending upon whether or not you have selected the display options as “mirror or duplicate” versus “extended.” I had to slightly adjust my expectations as to how the monitor would behave.
Hope this helps. This is my first-ever post on a tech forum.
