You can extract the BIOS file by opening the executable with a zipping program, like 7zip. I don't know if flashing the -LA motherboard with -LB BIOS will work. I too have heard that it's not possible. I'm curious though.

I have a m8187c system with a Q6750. I brought this system (about two years ago)  and  downloaded the flash for the BIOS the same day, a month or two later,  I was looking for an update and noticed that HP had pulled the Bios 5.13 from there Website. About 6 month later, they had reposted it back!  I think they recoded the earlier 5.13 because it was allowing you to install a higher cpu then they wanted!!!! I have seen other post on a different website where someone had installed  a quad Q9540 on their system and didn't have any problems.

I also have a LA board and I found this modification to the Q6600 CPU that will make it run at 3000 I have not yet tried it but I am going to try it today, I will keep you posted here is the link...http://forums.nvidia.com/lofiversion/index.php?t58361.html

Well I did the tape mod and it posted, cpu speed was 3000 and the bus speed was 1333, so I decided to run the windows experience index to see how much of an improvement there was, and CRASH blue screen, I don't know if its the motherboard or the processor just didn't like it, so I removed the tape and put it back to normal and all is well. I would like to see someone else try it and post their results.

Did anyone get more info about processor upgrades I upgraded mine so I'm going to pull the heat sink and see what I have.  Just don't remember what I got in it.  Mine Is the M9060N with windows 7 ultimate 64 bit 8 gb ram.  Just want more out of it.

Heres some more info about what I'm running

System model GN584AA-ABA M9060N

Processor  Intel (R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33Ghz, 2333 Mhz, 4

Bios version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 5.13, 10/24/2007

SMBIOS Version 2.4

Just had blue screen started about two weeks ago, removed all but 2gb ram started working ok, I'm pretty sure on of the sticks is bad,  can I use 1333mhz ram???

I want to get 1333 ram and new processor to max out my setup....can't get the new pc I want yet  😞

Anyone use one of the solid state hard drives or go to a 10,000 rpm drive????

REPLT TO FINEBUILT, RE: Q6600 MOD

I was actually thinking of doing this mod myself... but I found it on a different site, and it was more than just covering up a single pad on the cpu.

In the mod I saw, you had to buy a conductive pen and use it to connect two pads on the underside of the cpu, which changes the Q6600 clock speed from 1066 to 1333 as seen in the following link, note scroll down to the 5th cpu diagram labeled

1066 >1333

Maybe if you tried this mod, it would be stable and avoid the blue screen of death
