OMEN 40L Desktop
Microsoft Windows 11

My computer seems to gradually slow down over time the longer it is left on. This problem is solved by rebooting, but I often can't do that during an internet download as many websites do not allow you to resume downloads after they have been stopped for whatever reason, besides pausing them. That means I have to leave my computer on for up to a few days straight, and by that time the windows menu completely ceases to work, along with the search function. Not only that, but the computer becomes incredibly slow and the HP Omen Gaming Hub stops working. Also, most of my fans completely stop spinning and the computer begins to heat up.

Virus scans indicate no issues and it has been like this since I got it

Hi @Tdoyr

Welcome to the HP Forum.

It's too bad you did not return the PC for a refund/exchange within the return period if the PC did this at purchase.

Please provide a HP Product Number for better assistance. Check this Site for details.

The product number would be helpful to check for a BIOS update which might fix the fan problem. The PC will slow down if it is getting hot because the fans stop spinning. I have never seen a fan shut down unless the fan failed or the PC was shutdown.

Your PC has top shelf components. The PC should run like a champ.

Have you checked Task Manager to see if any processes are causing high: disk, memory, or CPU usage? But this problem seems to be BIOS related or a hardware problem if the fans shut down.

Your problem is very unusual to me. I have never seen this symptom in my years of using PCs. I have seen PCs shut down when components overheat. I have also seen high: disk, memory, or CPU usage reduce PC performance to a crawl.

You might need warranty service if the PC is in warranty. Or have a local PC Tech check the PC.

Regards
