Microsoft Windows 11

In the last 3 days my HP laptop i7 with windows 11 will no longer wake up when I open the lid.  I must forcefully power off and reboot. I keep the PC updated using HP support assistant.

Hi @KC10001

Welcome back.

I normally work with Desktops.

It sounds like you may have a external power supply problem or a problem with the MB or a component connected to the MB.

Windows could also be corrupted.

This is predicated on the premise you have not changed any: Windows settings or BIOS settings which could disrupt MB or component power states.

Check your PC's hardware as follows:

Start the PC. Repeatedly tap the "ESC" key.

Select "F2". Run system and component tests. Run extensive tests.

You could have a corrupted hibersys.sys file. This can be caused by a failing system drive, or flaky memory, or just plain old Windows system file corruption.

Try troubleshooting tips at this Site to see what happens if HP Diagnostic tests pass.

Regards
