I have a Ryzen 5 3400g and a dedicated graphics card. But I have a 8gb ram but only 5,9 is useable. I’m wondering which component is taking the 2.1gb and if I can fix it?

Hi @David7961

Welcome back.

It seems AMD reserves a part of system RAM for onboard video.

The reserved system RAM is not released when a discrete graphics card is installed.

I don't believe you can modify this behavior: in the BIOS or in Windows.

I can't say for sure it is not possible to release the reserved system RAM because I have never had to deal with this problem.

You can always add more system RAM if my guess is correct. Eight GBs of RAM does not make for a good experience when using W10 or W11.

A different Forum member might have hands on experience with this issue.

Regards

So There’s no fix basically?

Hi @David7961

Wait to see if a different Forum member provides additional input.

I don't believe there is a way to recover the reserved system RAM.

Hi @David7961

Try the AMD Processor Forum if you don't get a second opinion in this Forum.

Someone in the AMD Forum should be able to assist.
