I recently tried to upgrade my ram stick to a Corsair 16GB DDR 5 Ram stick and the Laptop did not want to recognize the new ram stick. I unplugged the battery before removing and installing the new one. I checked the stick was snapped correctly multiple times and the laptop simply would not boot up. I had to replace it back with the original 8gb. I tried putting both in a separate slot and also each individually. Only the original will work. Is this a compatibility issue? Laptop will not boot up with the new stick.

The service manual on the support page is of no help.
Victus by HP 15.6 inch Gaming Laptop 15-fb2000 - Setup and User Guides | HP® Support
It is for the original 15-fb0xxx model series with the AMD Ryzen 5xxx series processors.
Chapter 1 of the manual indicates the max memory for that model series was 2 x 8 GB (DDR4) memory.
The only suggestion I can offer would be to try the Crucial DDR5-4800 MHz memory they indicate is compatible with your notebook:

Then unfortunately, I don't know what the problem would be.
Does your notebook's service manual indicate the notebook supports 2 x 16 GB of memory?
It might only support 2 x 8 GB of memory.
I'm working in the dark here when you don't provide any model # or product number of your notebook.

Click on the search icon on your Windows taskbar.
Type: System Information
The System information app should show up.
Run the app and the product number of your notebook will be found on the System SKU line about 1/4 of the way down on the report.
Post the product number and I will post the model number of your PC.
Being a gaming laptop, it should support 32 GB of memory, but I want to have a look at the service manual.
