This has been a chronic issue with this printer.  It will consistently print noticeably lighter on the left side of the page.  I have tried replacing toner, replacing fuser, replacing rollers, reseating secondary transfer roller, adjusting paper type, adjusting resistance mode, adjusting print mode.   It will print the same from both trays.

Should I give up and get a new printer, or can this one be fixed? M605_001.jpg

Are you sure that the transfer roller is not damaged or missing a pressure spring. This print quality is consistent with a transfer roller issue.

Thank you for the response.  I just replaced the roller with a new one today, but it still shows light on the left side.  It sounds like it might be the roller spring, but I have been unable to find replacement springs or instructions on how to replace them.  Do you have any suggestions?

I have never had to replace the spring on one of these. Never had one damaged to that point. Likely the only way it is available is to replace the entire paper feed guide, as parts that small are rarely offered by themselves by HP. If this is a dusty environment you could have dust on the scanner lens and I would check that as well. Also make sure that you have quality power with no other high drain power items on the same circuit.
