Thanks for the version information. I will try this to make my scanner work. Where did you get the correct version? Please point me to the correct link so that I don't spend hours trying to fix this issue.
PS: I am not a "student", but 60 yr. old professional woman who needs assistance with this lingering problem. Frustrating, frustrating.......Ugh!!

I guess I'll be off to the store to buy a new printer whose features will all work wirelessly. I have my eyes on an Epson or a Lexmark, but have had my fill of HP products. Every printer I've had has had problems. And yet, for some reason, I have continued to buy them, like many posters. I guess we just expect that one of the world's largest hardware corporations will be able to provide and sell us a product that works. Sadly, that does not appear to be the case, so bye, bye HP!

I have a new HP Officejet 6600. I can't get it to scan. I am using the printer/scanner for home use only, not connected to a network, I am elderly and not computer savy. Should I try plugging an ethernet cable between my computer and the printer? Thank you in advance for your assistance. Karen Carpenter

Have you tried to set up scan options in the HP Solution Center. Should have an Icon on your desktop, open, go to settings and then scan settings.
Leave your ethernet as is.
Let us know if the works or advise the error message that shows when you try to scan.
Good Luck,
