Hi dollieblondie, im sorry you're having this problem try these steps to resolve this problem
You may try installing the software in clean boot state and check if the issue persists.
Starting your computer by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program. This kind of startup is known as a "Clean boot."
Steps to put the computer in clean boot state:
1. Click Start, type msconfig in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
2. On the General tab, click Selective Startup.
3. Under Selective Startup, click to clear the Load Startup Items check box.
4. Click the Services tab, click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box, and then click Disable All.
5. Click OK.
6. When you are prompted, click Restart.
7. After the computer starts, check whether the problem is resolved.
Please monitor the system in the Clean Boot environment. If the problem does not occur, it indicates that the problem is related to one application or service we have disabled. You may use the MSCONFIG tool again to re-enable the disabled item one by one to find out the culprit.
If the issue is resolved / or not follow these steps below
After you have finished troubleshooting, follow these steps to reset the computer to start as usual:
a. Click Start button, type msconfig.exe in the Start Search box, and then press ENTER.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.
b. On the General tab, click the Normal Startup option, and then click OK.
c. When you are prompted to restart the computer, click Restart.

You might also try downloading and running this install wizard. If anybody else with install problems sees this post, the wizard only works in Windows 7.

Hi Dollieblondie,
This sound like you have an Officejet 4500 G510a with a PC running windows 7.
The installation has a problem with some newer processor based PCs.
The install will have extracted the drivers to the %TEMP% directory on your PC.
Is this setup a new PC and Printer ?
