Hi,

Hi,

@I bought a few years ago a HP DV6241EU with an AMD turion TL50 @ 1.60GHz.

@according to the "Maintenance and Service Guide", it was possible to upgrade the CPU to a TL-60 @ 2GHz.

So I bought one, but when I replace it, the notebook starts for about 15 seconds, without anything on the screen then reboots infinitely.

I thought that it was because of the Bios so I upgraded it from F.3D to F.42 but it didn't fix the problem...

Does anyone knows how to solve this problem or tried the same replacement ?

Have you verified that the model, TDP in Watts and FSB speed in MHz is identical to the one listed in the Maintenance and Service  guide ?

regards,
erico

Hi

New to the forum so any help would be appreciated.

I'm looking to upgrade the processor in my HDX 16 1310ea.   It's currently fitted with:

Intel Mobile Core 2 Duo P7350 @ 2.00 GHz  (Socket P 478)

Mainboard is Quanta 361 B  15.2C

Chipset is Intel PM45 Rev. 07 with Southbridge of Intel 82801 IM ( ICH9-M)

Ideally i would like to fit: a 3.06 GHz CPU.... possibly the T9900

Does anyone know whether this processor is compatible...?

Thanks

Yes it should take that cpu but price wise a T9600 would be better ?..

Hi mazmorbid

I thought the T9600 only goes upto 2.80 Ghz

I can pick up an  X9100 @ 3.06 Ghz  CPU for about £170

just not sure if it's compatible or whether any BIOS adjustments are needed...?

I have a DV6-1355dx Hp laptop with a T6600 2.2Ghz CPU with a FSB of 800MHz.

Is it possible to upgrade the CPU to a P8700 2.53GHz with a FSB of 1066MHz?

Both of these processors support the PGA478 socket.

Thanks.

GREAT ARTICLE!!!!!

I have a DV8000 cto (the scanners it always comes out to a dv8300, idk why) but when I first started asking about upgrading the processor, HP just told everyone it could't be done. thank goodness HP is listening to their clientelle...it's a sad thing to spend $3000 on a top of the line laptop, and not be able to upgrade when it's obsolete.

Anyway, how do I find out what socket "I" have, and what I can upgrade the processor to. I have wanted to do this a year already. I have already taken it apart once with the great manuals you have and fixed a fan problem...I  love HP! Not all manufacturers have that good of information available to their customers, nor do they care. that's why i stick with you guys.

So, can you help me out here:? It's got a 2.16Ghz dual core in it now...6600? I think... I'd love to upgrade the graphics too....but if it's not possible I can live with the NV GEF 7600 a bit longer I suppose. Also, do you need to put bigger fans with the faster processors?
