Hi,

I have a dv4-2049wm and here are some of my specs:

AMD Turion II Ultra M620 on a Compal 3642 (Socket S1G3)

ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4200 Series

...and I want to upgrade my processor and graphics card. I want my laptop to play a lot of recent games well Any good advice on which I could upgrade to powerful but affordable hardware?

Thanks!!

I have a DV7-1020us and want to upgrade to the T9900 CPU.

The specs only go up to the T9600 as CPU that HP used.

Iam guessing that the T9900 wasnt introduced till after this machine was manufactured.

I know my chipsets support it, (PM45), it is the Bios Iam more concerned about having the necessary CPUID for that processor.

Also might mention that HP recently released a new Bios for machines using the F.2C Bios. The new version is F.2D and I have already flashed it to the machine with no problems. I wonder if the CPUID's were added for the T9700 thru T9900. Or is it going to matter.

Any help appreciated.

Quick question that might have been self-explanatory by your guide. Will swapping out the HDD in an HP Laptop (specifically looking at the Envy 17) void the warranty?

I'm ready to pull the trigger on my order but I really want to swap out the 5400rpm drive for a 7200 after I get it.

No. It won't void the warranty.

erico

Hi,

Download and CPU-z . Go to the mainboard tab and post the chipset Northbridge (Intel PM45 or GM45) and designation of the systemboard here. Once that is done then I can give you some upgrade advice.

erico

How about going to the mainboard tab and posting that screenshot here. That is the one with the info that I need.

I've had my Compaq Presario CQ50-105EO for quite a while now.

I want to upgrade it with new RAM, an SSD and a dual core CPU.

Now my my laptop's mainboard is a Wistron 360A 8.60 with nVidia GeForce 8200M chipset.

I know that my CPU is a Sempron SI-40 Socket S1 (638).

Now the CPU I want to upgrade to is a AMD Turion 64 X2 Socket S1 (S1G1)

I don't know if it is supported.

But then I take a look at which CPU's are supported.

For instance, the AMD Turion Ultra Dual-Core RM-70 is supported, which is also a Socket S1 BUT it's a S1G2.

So please, unlock this mystery for me.

Would I be able to upgrade it to an AMD Turion 64 X2 Socket S1 (S1G1)?
