Oh, thanks for the reply! Could you be more specific? I'm a computer idiot haha. Altering the EQ settings of itunes? the beats audio? and how should I alter it? I havent touched the settings since I got it. I'm using a HP pavilion dm4

Well if you look at the original post, the guy describes how to change your EQ settings in the Beats Audio. However, your Laptop is a lower model to his so his Beats Audio EQ settings may be different to yours, if they are, look at my first post where I also gave my own EQ Settings, my model is slightly higher than yours also but it might still work. You'll figure it out when you read the rest of this thread 🙂

As for your original post about your music volume changing during the song, the main question you need to figure out is if it is a software problem, an eq adjustment, a music player problem, or an actual problem with the song. here are some trouble shooting options you can try

leave your itunes setting at the original state and for the most part don't change it.

also your computer setting should not be tampered with as well. to test this, right click on your little speaker icon on your toolbar. left click on sounds, go to playback, select "speakers and headphones", then left click properties. now on this panel make sure that all your enhancements are off. make sure your tone control is set to 4 for bass and treble. and most importantly, under "advanced", click the "restore to default" button if it is available. if it is not then just hit apply and OK.

if this does not fix the problem, try using a different media player like windows media player or zune to listen to music, it could very well be a problem with itunes so make sure that if your music volume raises, it does so in more than one music player.

you can change your beats audio back to default as well and see if that solves the problem.

you can also try and determine if it is that particular song (or groups of songs) that are corrupted and are the reason behind the volume problem. if only a few song give you problems, then it is safe to assume that it is those songs that are the cause of the problems. you should try to re download the songs or re rip them to your computer and see if they still change volume.

now, if none of what i just posted does any good, my only advice would be to start your own forum and ask for help there, or look for similar problems people have posted in the past that may help you

Hey, I have a HP DV6 with Beats Audio and i find that if i leave the tone control on +4 for both Bass and Treble the volume lowers when any bass is played. Anybody else find this so?

The main reason that is, is that a speaker has to balance overall clarity and volume, with bass. this is true for all speakers that play bass and vocals. while the best speakers can handle a lot of bass while minimally sacrificing clarity, most speakers lose clarity because of distortion. the higher the distortion, the less clear the sound becomes and the lower it seams to be. that being said, its best to set the bass where it can have an impact in your listing experience while not noticeably disrupting the vocals.

I suggested setting the bass and treble at +4 so you only have to adjust the bass and treble from one eq ( your beats audio control) unless you know what your doing and can manage multiple eq's at once, its best to use one. you can substantially lower your bass using the beats audio control and find common ground between vocals and bass.

Thanks for all the advice. Much helped. The only thing i wasnt sure of is where you were giving the kHz the last i think 3 or 4 of them were:

2kHz

6kHz

10kHz

I think your last were 8 and 16. Where i have it set is that the same? Thanks a lot. I just want to get this all straight. Also, what can i do about the subwoofer at the bottom? I hear a crackle noise sometimes. Could that be a blown speaker? Thanks.

Overall. My main question is. What is the best setting for listening to metal kindof music and I also play war first person shooting games. What is the best setting to make it all sound clear and loud. Thanks.

On a Dv7, the last two Hz are 8 & 16, but on a Dv6 and/or Envy, the Hz are a tad different, which is why you don't have the same Hz. Don't worry about the 16 hz if you don't have it. its kind of inaudible so its not a problem.

As for the Subwoofer, i cannot really troubleshoot it for you since this is not a troubleshooting forum. that being said, it may be blown, you may have you bass set to high on your beats eq, your media player eq, or your computer setting. or you may have changed your Advance computer sound setting to a Hz too high for your sub to play, i dont really know. you can look around the forum or make your own and ask a troubleshooting expert to help you identify the problem

Metal is a difficult music selection to get the settings perfect with. this is because most metal songs lack substantial mid-bass and usually only have a kick bass for anything below 100hz. this means that you'll generally have to add bass, turn the mid-bass up a bit on the eq, and lessen the really vocal Hz because set too high, and the vocals may scratch, especially if the artist is singing at an already high DB. That being said, War type game music differ completely. they are more focused on instruments (traditional or contemporary) and don't really use vocals. you may have to adjust the markers as you see fit depending on what your listing to. or, you can try to find some middle ground in which you can leave the markers and still enjoy both types of music.

Since i don't have a Dv6, i cant tell you exactly where to set your markers. You'll just have to set it up and really tweak it on your own. follow my advice on the first post or even set your markers to where i had them set, (all the ones that you have) and tweak it from there.

Hello,

I have read this thread and I'm very grateful as this is just the information I'm looking for. I have a dv6 and I realize the Beats Audio improves the sound quality however I am not experiencing it as I cannot set the eq appropriately and it sounds *terrible* on default.

I have used both the equalizer settings that were given earlier and the sound still comes out tinny and, in my opinion, not as good as my old laptop's...

Please, could someone help me out. I use itunes and i have set the eq settings to not interfere with the Beats Audio.

Advice would be greatly appreciated. I want to make the most of this, apparantly, very good audio software.

(I listen to all types of music so settings that work for that would be perfect.)

THANKS!
