The paragraph above is exactly the same as the paragraph below
when you drop the highest frequencies, keep the mid-high frequencies, drop the mid, raise the mid-bass, and keep the bass at even
what was stated in the last paragraph is just a more sound/engineering way of stating the paragraph above, i just said it in a more complex way so you don't have to follow my exact settings that was stated in the first paragraph, but can follow what i did in the second to get the sound right, and chose your own exact setting

sure i know what it is, its the bass setting on Windows where you can adjust how much bass you want at a certain frequency. i've poseted many times in the fourm that bass is not specific, in fact, its the one frequency area that no one can tell you what to set it. it differs by individual and type of music, so you gotta adjust it to match your head phones, stand-alone-speakers, home stereo, notebook speakers, and more. i tested the bass on 15db at 125hz (which is more mid-bass) and put the Beats audio eq at its original setting and found the bass/mid to be too over whelming, even with my Beats by Dre headphones it just interferes too much. if you like listing to music with that much bass/mid, then by all means, continue. this is an advice fourm after all and all opinions are welcome

Hello everyone, a slight update for this post. recently, i began listing to a few genre's of music (mostly scores) in a lossless format. (lossless, like Flac, Aiff, Wav and more, is a format in which music is not compressed to that of lesser formats. a song that is compressed is called lossy and is mostly in mp3 format. lossy songs can be 3mb while the same lossless song would be 15mb, so you see there is a huge difference in size and a slight difference in sound quality). i even went out of my way to get some songs Supposedly recorded in 5.1 surround sound. most people are satisfied with using mp3 as their main format, but i have noticed a difference in sound quality when listing to music in lossless format. thus it was necessary to slightly adjust the Beat's eq to address this difference. if anyone is interested in my lossless format eq settings, just drop a post and ill answer it.

Also thousands of people have viewed this post and im intrested to see if anyone has any comments on my eq settings or any posts. if anything needs adjusting or if i did not adress a critical issue let me know. thanks

Hey, Great suggestions!
My problem is the fact that the frequencies and the buttons you discuss are not in my beats audio control panel...I have a Dv6t and i'm not sure if that means the chipsets are different but I cannot go to "speakers and headphones" to change my eq i have to go to the top under the heading "Listening Experience" and in this screen it shows a beats audio eq on the left and a Graphic Eq on the right. The Graphic Eq is the one with frequencies and I try to adjust them to your suggestions but I have 1 KHz, 2 KHz, 4 KHz, and 8KHz . I could have sworn when I looked a minute ago that I saw a 6 KHz and a 15 KHz but now they seem to be gone!

Note: This is for anyone using a Dv6t laptop and not a Dv7. Their eq's are different and this post addresses that.
I took a look online for a Dv6t Beats audio panel and it is actually very different than that for a Dv7. At first glance, it seams that Dv7 has a more robust and deeper eq since it has a 10 band equalizer while the Dv6 only has a 9 band equalizer. In most cases, that extra band does make a different in a eq, but in this case i don't think it does. the band missing from the Dv6 is the 16kHz which is actually the best case scenario. when listings to a song, the sound bar at 16kHz barely rises and turning it up does not make a big difference, because most songs don't have important notes or sounds that high and most headphones do not play those 16kHz notes that prominently.
If your listening to a song in lossless format and using high end headphones you might hear the notes, but that is a big might. So essentially, your really not missing anything by missing that last band. So use the eq with the suggestions i made and simply skip the one for 16kHz, remember to tweak it to get the best possible sound.
On a different note, on the Dv6 beats audio panel, i see selections for "Music", "Voice", and "Movie". there are also bars for "Bass", "Center" and more. since i do not have a Dv6, i cannot tune or give any suggestions as to where to set those bars. Test them, by raising them up and down and listing to the difference. Read the last paragraph on my first post to have a general idea of what to listen for and where to set the bars.

I was looking for speakers for my envy 14 with beats and haven't found a speaker that is both relatively inexpensive and and compliments the amazing sound capability. So if you could offer any suggestions that would be great. I really found the eq settings very useful because although i'm a music nerd, hz and db measurements go well over my head.
