The blink codes state caps lock/num lock because it could be just the caps lock, just the numlock, or both. If both are blinking, then it counts as one blink for each time.
If it is blinking just one time and pausing for 3-4 seconds, then that indicates the processor POST test failed. A processor failure usually requires a new processor, but some have been able to open the notebook to reseat the process and apply new thermal paste to get the issue resolved.
If it is under warranty, I would recommend contacting HP for service.
If it is out of warranty, then I would contact HP to get a quote and compare that to the cost of a local PC shop to weigh your options.

Hello Parth2,
I understand that your computer receives power but will not properly boot up, is that accurate? I will do all I can to assist you with this issue.
I would like you to view this document and see if the caps and number lock lights are blinking in a specific pattern as the document suggests.

I am having the same issue (black screen/will not start up) with my HP Pavilion dv7-1448dx. From the chart posted here, I have a continuous blink at caps lock / num lock. This would indicate a power adaptor issue? What should I do to correct this - order a new power adaptor? Could it be a battery issue? I am also concerned about the hard drive - will I lose my data? I love this computer - have never had any issues before and hoping this will not be the end of my notebook 😞
Thank you for any help!
Pam

@ Suebug67,
Before you go out and start buying parts that may not resolve the issue, I want to make sure I have 100% clarity on your issue. Is your computer getting power but you don’t get an image on the screen or is your computer not responding at all when you press the power button? (Do you hear the fan come on, do you hear the hard drive making any noise)

RedRose - yes, I am getting power - the fan is coming on, the led at the power source is on when the adapter is plugged in. No start up, no picture on the screen. From what I have read on various forums this is a big issue with the HP Pavilions and could be virtually anything - wiring to the monitor, battery, adapter pack, etc. I have tried all of the suggested hard resets, etc with no luck. Are you aware of any parts recalls that may apply here, or what is your suggested next step?
Thanks,
Pam

Suebug67,
Thank you for your quick response.
I want to attempt to run a couple of test if possible, and if you have already tried this please let me know.
1. Locate the F10 key
2. When you turn the computer on immediately start tapping the F10 key
3. If successful it will load you into the setup utility screen
4. Across the top if you see the diagnostic option toggle over to it using the arrow keys
5. Once there look underneath diagnostic and run the test that it gives you.
The test may be a little lengthy so please have you AC adapter plugged in.
