Search for "Laptop very slow on battery power, very fast on AC power" to see the original posts. 1 year later, BIOS F.19 updated and STILL NO IMPROVEMENT. HP, this is a colossal failure. On AC, I get to the login screen in about 15 seconds. On battery, that takes about 3 1/2 minutes; 1,400% longer.
It's now time to renew laptops and HP will not be the choice this year, or probably ever again.
- Total failure of support to address any questions.
- No acknowledgment of the problem.
- Extended Support Care Pack turned out to be worthless
- Multiple BIOS upgrades have not addressed this performance issue.
What is the point of laptop that runs like a 386 when on battery power? Again, this is NOT AN OS SETTING as it happens during POST and into the initial logon: this is a BIOS issue. Look at the original post on this problem and you'll see the chart showing the CPU throttled until AC is connected. The Advanced tab in the BIOS is not accessible, so an end user cannot fix this without a 3rd party software. Pavilion used to be my go-to choice for years, so this is extra disappointing to me.
