Hi @ravisivan1
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're seeing a "Battery Counterfeit Check Error" on your laptop, which can be concerning, especially when the laptop is showing the error even with an original battery. While it’s common for third-party (non-original) batteries to trigger such warnings, seeing it with an original battery could point to a few different issues. Let’s go over what you should consider and whether it’s okay to continue using the laptop with this error.
What the "Battery Counterfeit Check Error" Means:
The error typically appears when the system detects an issue with the battery’s authenticity or compatibility. However, even if the battery is genuine, it could be caused by:
- Battery or BIOS Miscommunication: The BIOS might not be correctly recognizing the battery, which can sometimes happen after updates, hardware changes, or internal settings resetting.
- Firmware or BIOS Issues: Sometimes, a BIOS update or corruption can cause the system to misread the battery’s status.
- Battery Health: In rare cases, if the battery is showing signs of damage or wear, the system may flag it incorrectly as counterfeit even though it’s the original battery.
Is It Safe to Use the Laptop with This Message?
If you’re using an original battery and the laptop is still functioning normally, then it’s likely okay to continue using it temporarily, but there are a few things to keep in mind:
- Potential Battery or BIOS Issue: The error could indicate that the BIOS is having trouble recognizing the battery. While it might not stop the laptop from working, it’s still a good idea to address it.
- No Immediate Safety Risk: Generally, the error itself doesn’t pose a safety risk like overheating or damaging the internal components. However, it might impact your battery’s functionality (e.g., charging) or lead to power-related issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
