just to see if I am right on my HP Pavilion dv7-7126nr

 

I can upgrade my CPU to a Intel Core i7-640M 2.8GHz 2-Core 4MB Socket G1 SLBTN

You can only install one of the 35W Intel processors. 

 

According to chapter 3 of the service manual, different motherboards are used for the 45W processors.

Hi, Todd:

 

Unfortunately, that would not be possible.

 

The notebook only supports some Intel 2nd generation and 3rd generation core processors.

 

The list of supported processors can be found in chapter 1, page 2 of the service manual I gave you for the dv7-7126nr on September 15th.
