Hi @nikoal,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like your HP Victus webcam issue might be linked to a hardware or driver issue, particularly after the OS upgrade. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Check BIOS Settings:

  • Sometimes the webcam can be disabled in the BIOS. Restart your HP Victus and enter BIOS (usually by pressing F10 during boot).
  • Look for a setting related to the webcam and make sure it's enabled. If it's disabled, enable it and save the changes.

Reinstall Webcam Drivers:

  • Device Manager: Since the webcam is not showing in Device Manager, open Device Manager, and click on the Action menu, then select Scan for hardware changes. This might prompt Windows to detect the camera.
  • If it appears, right-click on the webcam and select Uninstall device. Restart your computer and let Windows reinstall the drivers automatically.
  • You can also check HP's support website for updated drivers specific to your Victus model.

Windows Update:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and make sure your system is fully updated. Sometimes new updates may resolve hardware issues.

Windows Camera Privacy Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Camera and ensure that access to the camera is allowed for all apps.

Check Hardware Connection:

  • Since you’ve tried replacing the webcam, make sure the webcam is connected properly. If you’re using an external webcam, try connecting it to another port or a different PC to ensure it’s working.

System Restore:

  • If the issue started after an update, you could try restoring your system to a point before the issue started. To do this, go to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery, and select Open System Restore.

Check for OS Corruption:

  • If downgrading worked temporarily, there might be some OS corruption that prevents the webcam from being recognized. Running the System File Checker (SFC) tool could help:
    • Open Command Prompt as Administrator, then type sfc /scannow and press Enter.

Check for HP Software:

  • HP provides its own camera software (like HP Camera or HP Support Assistant) that could help with configuration and driver management. Try reinstalling or updating any HP software related to your webcam.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
