My mom’s hp dv7-1243 cl is running windows 10. It is extremely slow. How how can I make it run faster. well, adding more RAM help or is it not worth it

It's probably not worth it.

 

The notebook supports 2 x 2 GB of DDR2-6400 memory for a total of 4 GB.

 

It's possible that removing the 320 GB mechanical hard drive and replacing it with a 500 GB 2.5" SSD will work, but I can't guarantee it because the notebook is so old.

 

A SSD would make a pretty big difference in performance if it did work.

 

Something like this:

 

Amazon.com: Western Digital 500GB WD Blue SA510 SATA Internal Solid State Drive SSD - SATA III 6 Gb/...

 

If the notebook only has 2 GB of memory, this 2 GB memory chip should work in the empty slot.

I have zipped up and attached the service manual which has the memory upgrade info in chapter 1.
