HP Pavilion - 15-cw1001nx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I wanted to upgrade my SSD to a Samsung 970 EVO Plus SSD of 1TB NVMe M.2. Is it compatible with my HP Pavilion?
Serial Number: [personal info removed]

Sorry for asking but I really don't want to waste time and money on the wrong SSD. I will be grateful for an answer.

You can install either,  but your notebook's M.2 slot is only PCIe Gen 3.0.

The Samsung 980 Pro is PCIe Gen 4.0, and won't run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds from your notebook's PCIe Gen 3.0 slot.

If the Pro is close in price to the regular 980, I'd go for the 980 Pro.

Yes, that drive will work fine as a replacement for the 256 GB drive in your notebook if that is the one you want.

I'd opt for the newer Samsung 980 PCIe 3.0 drive but if you can get the older 970 for less then it is a very good drive too.
