Hi @Siddharth125-_,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Pavilion x360 Convertible Laptop might have a loose connection or a sensor issue that causes it to lock or shut down when moved. Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue.
Check Power Settings
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options.
- Click on your current power plan and then on Change plan settings.
- Click Change advanced power settings.
- Look for Lid close action or similar settings and ensure it is not set to lock or sleep unnecessarily.
Update Drivers
- Ensure all your drivers are up to date, especially for:
- Display adapter.
- Chipset drivers.
- BIOS/UEFI firmware (check HP Support Assistant or your laptop's support page).
Test with Movement
- Gently move the laptop and see if the issue persists.
- If it happens only when the laptop is tilted or shaken slightly, it could indicate a loose connection inside the device.
Disable Sensors (Optional)
- Convertible laptops like the HP Pavilion x360 often have sensors that detect movement, such as accelerometers or gyroscopes. If these are faulty, the laptop may misinterpret movement as a signal to lock the screen.
- Test this by booting into Safe Mode:
- Restart your laptop and press F8 or Shift + Restart to enter Safe Mode.
- Move the laptop around and see if it behaves differently.
Physical Inspection
- Check if the battery is securely seated.
- Listen for any loose components or unusual sounds when moving the laptop.

Run Hardware Diagnostics
- Restart your laptop and press F2 during startup to enter HP’s diagnostics tool.
- Run a full system test to check for hardware issues.
Inspect Sleep Button/Power Button
- If your laptop locks when moved, it might be due to a sensitive or stuck power button or sleep button. Gently press around the button area to test for this.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
