It seems your HP laptop is experiencing an issue where it won't power on without being plugged into the charger, even when the battery is fully charged. This issue could be related to several factors, including a recent Windows 11 update.

 

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.


Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Hold down the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Reconnect the battery and the charger, and try turning the laptop on.

Check Battery Settings:

  • Go to Settings > System > Power & battery, and check if the battery is showing as fully charged.
  • If the battery shows fully charged but the laptop won't turn on, try running the Battery Troubleshooter:
    • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters and run the Power troubleshooter.

Check for Power Management Driver Issues:

  • Open Device Manager and expand the Batteries section.
  • Right-click on Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall device. Then, restart your laptop, and Windows will reinstall the driver.

Update or Rollback BIOS:

  • Sometimes, a BIOS update can cause power-related issues. Try checking if there's an updated BIOS for your model on the HP support page, or if the recent update caused the issue, try rolling back to a previous BIOS version.

Reset the Power Plan:

  • Open Control Panel and go to Power Options.
  • Reset your power plan to default settings.

Revert the Recent Update (if needed):

  • If the issue appeared after the recent Windows update, you might want to consider uninstalling the update:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall Updates.
