I have a HP gaming laptop 17-CDX000 and I need more storage but do not know what model number ect to buy? I currently have a kbg30zmv256g kioxia. What other information can I give to help get my answer completed?

If you want a larger capacity NVMe SSD, you can replace the 256 GB drive you have now with this one, which is 1 TB.

I forgot to ask, I need the room so my steam games and it has to run from program files . I think I’ll have to clone my OS to the new hard drive to make that possible. What would be the best way to do that?

If you buy the Samsung drive I recommended, they have a cloning program built into the free Samsung Magician program that you can use the clone the drive to the new one.
Samsung Magician Software Download | Samsung Semiconductor Global
You will need to buy an additional piece of hardware since your notebook does not have two M.2 slots.
You need a USB3/USB-C to NVMe SSD enclosure to install the Samsung drive into so you can clone it.
