Hi. My laptop came with the "Realtek RTL8821CE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter" installed.

I believe the maximum wifi speed of that is apparently 433.3Mbps.

Is it possible to upgrade that adapter to make better use of the 1gig internet service that has been provided to my house?

Your thoughts please.

Thanks,

Alan

Hi, Alan:

The RTL8821CE Wi-Fi adapter only uses one antenna wire, and a better card would require two antenna wires.

Unless you don't mind ordering the dual antenna kit listed in chapter 3 of the service manual and completely disassembling the notebook including the display panel to install a second antenna wire, you have the best card there is.

If you have no problem doing the work to add a second antenna wire, you can upgrade to the RTL8822CE Wi-Fi card/part number listed in chapter 3 of the service manual which has a maximum throughput of 867 MBPS.
