Hi:

HP only offered Realtek 1 x 1 and 2 x 2 Wi-Fi 4 and 5 cards in the model series.

I can't find any posts where someone tried to upgrade the Wi-Fi card in the model series.

The good news is your notebook has two antenna wires so a better card may work.

Just bear in mind that some of these notebooks will not support a Wi-Fi card upgrade.

There isn't a BIOS whitelist that blocks the notebook from booting up but a more subtle thing where either the card doesn't show up in the device manager or it shows up fine and doesn't work, or only the Bluetooth works.

You must buy a non-vPro version of the card.

Suggested models to try:

Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 ax 2×2 + Bluetooth 5.0 MU-MIMO M.2 2230 non-vPro   HP part # L35282-005.

Intel AX210 Wi-Fi 6E 2x2 AX + Bluetooth 5.2 M.2 2230 non-vPro   HP part # / SPS # M27269-005

Intel BE200 M.2 2230 Wi-Fi 7 + Bluetooth 5.4 non-vPro WW WLAN module   HP part # N39883-001

If you decide to try and upgrade the Wi-Fi card, please post back and let us know what model you tried and if it worked or not.

Below is the link to the service manual where you can find the Wi-Fi card removal and replacement procedure.

Your notebook used the same service manual and teardown video as the 15-dy0xxx model series.

You're very welcome, Carlos.

You never have to be concerned about the key the Wi-Fi card has.

Just that it is M.2 2230.

All HP M.2 Wi-Fi card slots only have one key (A).

So, if a card has two notches, it will always fit in the slot.

I was wrong about the part number.  It is N39883-005.

Hi:

I must have gotten the keys crossed.

I always thought the inboard key was the A key.

It looks like the card will work with the E key.

Here is a picture of the motherboard used in the model series:

The wireless card slot is above the memory slots, and you can see that the key is further from the end than an 'A' key would be.

The service video for the model series has a good view of removing the Wi-Fi card and it seems like the BE200 should have no problem fitting.

Hi:

I guess that gives you a good practice run.

If you look at the card your notebook has, it has two notches.

If you look at the M.2 slot itself, there is only one key that the inboard key 'E' notch fits into.

The outboard notch just doesn't make any contact with the pins in the slot.

You can actually see the M.2 slot contact pins through the key A notch of the installed Wi-Fi card.

The Intel BE200 will definitely fit just fine in that M.2 slot.

Will it work?  Let's hope so.
