I replaced the system fan and the heatsink and I’m now getting a system fan error 90B. I’m able to bypass the error and boot into windows for a short period of time before it shuts down. It will not stay powered on long enough to do the hardware diagnostics from the HP support tools. It will not stay on long enough to do a back up of any kind. It will not stay on long enough to do a reset. i’m at a severe loss here as to what to try next.

What did you replace the system fan in heatsink with?
The only fan that is compatible with your laptop is the original equipment with HP part number 927918-001
You can reuse the original heatsink.
Parts reference for your specific laptop is at the HP PartSurfer link below this line

Actually, part of you description of the issue(s) lead me to believe you are having a problem with the battery charging. If that is the original battery, it is likely to be at the end of its service life.
The replacement battery has HP part number and description

Ty SOOO much for the help. I did replace the battery, you are correct (old one bubbling). It's a China battery (cause that’s all I see online) with a model number TF03XL. It said it was the replacement. Also the fan (again all I see online are China parts. Old one noisy and wouldn’t clean enough to quiet), it says xrf-813 956-002 it also said it was the replacement. I do have the original heatsink, but the replacement says service pn 927919-001. So it seems I got all those parts wrong. Where can I get genuine HP parts? The parts catalog you referenced is great for the part numbers, but it doesn’t say where to buy them. When I look up retailers on that website, it’s Amazon (which mostly has China parts), or retailers that only have complete PCs or Notebooks, no parts.

UPDATE: I took off the bottom of the laptop, propped it up on the back edge, pointed a fan at the processor and as long as all that’s in place …. I can go for as long as I want. I’ve only gone a few hours at this point, but it didn’t crash. I shut it down. So this leads me to believe it’s not the battery. How do you interpret this finding?

"I did replace the battery, you are correct (old one bubbling). It's a China battery"
I would still replace it.
When you search for a replacement battery, make sure the description states HP original and if it shows an image of the battery, it has to have the HP logo on the upper left. The S.M.A.R.T. battery will be able to communicate with the laptop on the notebook's System Management Bus (SMBus) to communicate with the notebook's Operating system and firmware. If it is a non HP battery that may not happen as expected.
Here is a source for a genuine HP battery for your laptop.
Here is a source for a CPU fan advertised as a genuine HP replacement part at a great price. (@ $20.00)
