Hi @poe315,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If the right Shift key on your HP Envy 17 is not working, here are some troubleshooting steps to try.
Check for Physical Issues:
- Make sure there’s no debris or dust underneath the key.
- Press the key multiple times to see if it starts working again.
Keyboard Driver Update:
- Go to Device Manager > Keyboards.
- Right-click on the keyboard driver and select Update driver. Restart your laptop after updating.
Keyboard Settings:
- Sometimes, keyboard settings may be accidentally changed. Go to Settings > Ease of Access > Keyboard and make sure that Sticky Keys or Filter Keys are not enabled.
External Keyboard Test:
- If you have an external keyboard, plug it in and check if the right Shift key works there. This helps to rule out hardware failure.
Reset Keyboard Mapping:
- If you have third-party software for customizing key functions, try resetting it to the default settings.
Check for Software Conflicts:
- Some programs may interfere with keyboard input. Boot into Safe Mode to see if the issue persists.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
