Hi @Charles7272 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the confusion arises from how screen sizes are measured. Laptop screen sizes are measured diagonally from one corner of the screen to the opposite corner, not horizontally across the width of the screen.

Here’s why it might seem smaller to you:

Diagonal Measurement: When you measure diagonally (including the visible display area only, not the bezel), the screen size should be approximately 15.6 inches. If you measure horizontally or vertically, the dimensions will be smaller than the advertised size.

Incorrect Measurement: If you measured only the visible part of the screen or didn’t include the corners diagonally, it might appear to be smaller than its actual size.

Replacement Screen Spec: The replacement screen size must match the original HP specifications for compatibility, even if it seems larger. A 15.6-inch screen is the correct specification for a Compaq Presario CQ57.

To confirm:

  • Use a tape measure to measure the screen diagonally, from one visible corner to the opposite visible corner. This should be approximately 15.6 inches.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
