i bought a HP Model# GP70n and it will not work on my HP laptop M# 15-dy5033dx, what program or app may be needed, or is it just bad? thanks

HP Recommended

If you are using it to play DVD's you can install the free VLC Media Player software from the Microsoft Store.

 

VLC - Download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store

 

W10 & W11 do not contain the DVD codecs needed to watch DVD's because Microsoft didn't want to pay the content owners for the license fees anymore like they did for some previous versions of Windows.
