Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have had a problem with the left hinge on my computer (purchased Dec. 2013) for at least a year or more. It wasn't a big deal, until I just yesterday took it to Best Buy's Geek Squad and the tech that tried to fix it made it worse. Now, the bottom panel is somewhat separated from the top panel and it doesn't click closed anymore. The tech told me something was broken and it was not fixable. It isn't under HP warranty anymore.

Is this fixable or do I need to replace it?

I have a HP 17T-J000 C8U17AAR that has a similar problem, investigating fan issue discovered broken plastic in it and noticed hinge screws plastic disintegrated, fan works afterward, but hinge is the real problem. Ethernet not reliable due to mechanical separation from broken hinge screw plastic.
