HP's UEFI diagnostics can test your laptop's battery as described here. Pressing F2 when powering up runs the UEFI diagnostics.
If the battery is not listed then possibly it is in the updated version of UEFI diagnostics.
HP releases newer UEFI diagnostics periodically. When you select F2 during boot you are requesting UEFI diagnostics. There is an updated diagnostics package Click Here Look for the phrase 'issues outside the OS', Expand the '+' symbol and click the DOWNLOAD button. The version of the UEFI diagnostics is shown at the left of that DOWNLOAD button. When you press F2 to run diagnostics please ensure the version is the new one. |
The battery report is another tool that can be used to diagnose battery problems. Please run the battery report and post the summery if you wish. Do it before and after the battery calibration described below.
You run the battery report by bringing up the administrator command window and running
powercfg/batteryreport |
as shown below
After entering that explorer line you should see something like the following. You will have to click on it as it is long
https://stateson.net/docs/SP4_battery-report.html
You can use the WindowsKey + shift + S to copy and paste a small image if you want.
Battery should last about 5 years but less for gaming systems. Have you done a battery calibration?
Since the problem showed up after a window reset, possibly you do not have the proper drivers. Consider a factory restore from the cloud. What is your product ID? Go here, put in your full Product ID, and see if you have cloud restore.
Let me know what you find out.

was that before of after you did the battery calibration.
The report itself does not fix anything.
The display shows charging above 100%
Please run the battery calibration to correct that.
What does the summary show
Design capacity?
Full charge capacity?
Cycle count?
Genuine HP battery with valid serial number?
What did the UEFI battery test show, if anything?
