Hi! A fan is screaming. So I must replace the heatsink module, but which one is the right one: 840960-001 or 840961-001? I understand, it depends on the graphics memory, but here I am lost: my graphics card is an NVIDIA Quadro M1000M. And there is also an Intel(R) HD Graphics P530. 🤔 Does that determine discrete versus UMA graphics memory, or where do I have to look? Thanks.

Yes, that is correct.

If your notebook has the Nvidia discrete graphics adapter regardless of whether or not it also has the Intel GPU, you want the heatsink for the discrete graphics adapter.

Hi:

If you enter your notebook's product number in the HP PartSurfer database at the link below, it should provide the part number of the heatsink used in your notebook.

The heatsink for the UMA graphics is for the notebooks that only came with the onboard Intel graphics adapter.

Hi Paul_Tikkanen, that's what I actually did do, but that page comes up with those two versions of a heat sink! However, since I do have that NVIDIA graphics card, as I understand your answer, the other heatsink, the one for discrete graphics memory, is the right one for my laptop.
