Can the programs running in the background be turned off temporary without doing each separately?
Running windows 7 pro on a HP mini 2120 computer.

Hi,
You can certainly disable some background processes, but you may lose some functionality.
To disable common start-up items, try the following.
Start the notebook and let Windows fully load. Hold down the Windows key and press R. In to the Run box type msconfig and hit enter. In the System Configuration window, click the Start up tab, remove the tick next to each start up item apart from your security software and Audio software and then click Apply to make the change. Restart the notebook for this change to take effect.
If you find a function you require is now unavailable, just re-enable it in System Configuration and restart the notebook again.

Thanks for the reply. I am putting back into my computer a program of a few years ago and I can't get it to go in unless I turn off all programs running in the back ground. Will try this later today and let you know if I understand what you suggested.
